A New Green Program
The
G/GPUSA Green Congress this year has two goals with respect to the Green
Program:
- A comprehensive re-write of the Green
Program, most of which was adopted in 1990 and much of which
is outdated.
Submissions should be sent to the office address
at the top of this page.
Submissions can be detailed drafts of
program language designed to fit the proposed format or simply comments
and suggestions.
We also encourage suggestions of people
who we should solicit contributions from for particular issues.
The rest of this call outlines:
- The conceptual
outline of the program.
- How the
Green Program Working Group will facilitate the program drafting process.
- A topical
outline of the areas the program should cover.
Green
Program:
An introductory
section will include:
- Explanation
of the role of the Green Program in our organization.
- An analysis
of the roots of social injustice and ecological crisis.
- Perspectives
on our strategy of social change.
- Our general
vision of a democratic, just, and ecological society.
Then each
topical section will include:
- An analysis
of the issue.
- The Green
vision for this issue.
- A list
of our immediate policy demands.
Program
working Group:
- Will call for submissions from the
G/GPUSA membership.
- Invite activists on particular issues
to make submissions.
- Work the substance of submissions into
a draft with a consistent style.
- Complete its work according to the
following timeline:
Topical
Outline
This
is a first draft outline of topics we propose to address. Submissions
